SOUL READINGS

SOUL READINGS

Sometimes, even though you are working through issues and trying to look for the answers within, you may feel that you need some help or clarification. This is when a reading can really help to guide and encourage you.

The readings I do are typically about an hour long and seem to cover a wide range of topics from health, relationships, childhood issues, past lives, spirit guides, career and so forth. I can never be quite sure what will come up!

My readings seem to centre very much on getting people to go within and do the work they need to in order to get back to their true spiritual self. Although I will give guidance, I am always constantly working to empower people, so that they can get to the stage where they don't need to look to others for guidance, but can listen to their own inner voice so well that they know the way forward. That is real spiritual empowerment, and that is where we are all ultimately headed.

Through my readings, I can help to point people in the direction of their true spiritual self, the healing therapies that will help them to release any blocks or illness, and the messages that spirit are sending for them.Typically I receive names of people that are relevant to the client's forward development, as well as any patterns of behaviour that need to be released.

Health is always an area that seems to come up strongly, and I will usually get very precise information on what therapies will work for a client, along with areas of the body that are out of alignment, and any weaknesses in the overall health of the client (such as iron deficiency etc).

I do also seem to get homeopathic/herbal/Bach flower remedies that will help. Not knowing anything about any of these therapies really, I tend to get a word or name then look up whether that is a remedy, and if its appropriate for the weakness described in the reading. Strangely enough - it is always spot on.

I can do a one on one reading in person, which goes for an hour, is recorded onto a CD for you, and costs £40. Alternatively, you can book an email reading. The cost is £35, I will tune in for the same amount of time as a face to face reading, and then email you the typed reading in a WORD document. I have done several email readings, and they are just as accurate as the face to face ones. Please see the client comments below. If you would like to speak to someone who has had a reading, please email me and I can put you in contact with previous clients.

Once again, I would like to stress that YOU are the best person to decide in which direction you want your life to go. But I am happy to offer any guidance I can in the form of a reading. From what I have been lucky enough to see first hand with my readings, people seem lighter, more positive and have a great sense of relief after a reading (especially when relevant messages from deceased loved ones come through).

A SOUL READING COULD BENEFIT YOU:

If you feel stuck in a situation and are not sure which direction to go in, or
If you are interested in who your spiritual guides are, or
If you feel uninspired by your current job and would like to know what your special "skill" is, or
If you have a lot of "strange" co-incidences in your life happening and you want to know more, or
If you want general confirmation on where you are headed in life, or
If you've noticed a lot of references to readings (at least three), or
If your inner voice tells you its a therapy that would really help you.

If you would like to book an email reading with Kerri, please see below.

Kerri does three readings a day on a Monday and Wednesday (commencing Sept 8th). The times are 10-11, 11.30-12.30, and 1-2. If you would like to book a one to one reading with Kerri (Hawkesbury Upton, Gloucestershire), please email on Kerri@puresamtosha.co.uk with your date and time preferences (please list more than one if possible), or call (weekdays 10-5) or text Kerri on 07736331851. Your date and time will be confirmed back to you.

Kerri will provide an email reading for you, typed in a word document. Typically about 6-7 pages long. The reading will cover areas such as health, relationships, and career. You can ask up to three questions or issues that you would like clarification on (this needs to be filled out so if you have nothing specific to ask, just type "general reading"). Please note that these readings tend to be quite deep - so you will more than likely receive advice on areas/traumas you need to release in order to heal. Kerri will also typically receive messages for you from spirit, in the form of loved ones or your Spirit Guides/Angels. If it is relevant to your current life's lessons, you will also receive past life information. Please allow one week for the reading to be sent to you. We accept payment through Paypal - but don't worry if you don't have a paypal account, when you are taken to the Paypal site you can choose to pay by card or paypal account.

"I am just blown away. Everything, I mean everything was just so spot on. The messages from spirit about every day things were so exact and not things that you could possibly have known about. You have also managed to put into words all the feelings I have but which I hadn't been able to express. Thank you so much for all the positive advice, I'll definitely be putting it into practice!! Your reading has comforted me and reaffirmed that I am always being supported and looked after." - Suzanne, Australia

"Kerri's readings are incredibly accurate and always given with kindness and sensitivity." - Ruth, Wiltshire

"I've always believed that we have guardian angels looking out for us, whether they be family members who have passed on or members of the spiritual world (fairies, angels, archangels, etc), so when the opportunity came up for me to have a reading, I took it. I found the reading quite revealing. The amount of accurate information provided was literally jaw dropping, particularly regarding my health. I have problems that I had not even discussed with my partner, so when reading this, it was really confronting. The family members that came through also came as a surprise to me because I always felt that I had no connection with this side of my family. It actually brought tears to my eyes. It's comforting knowing that they are there for me and looking out for me. A lot of the reading was amazingly accurate and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it - Kerri is a wonderfully gifted person." - Sandra, Melbourne, Australia

"Kerri correctly told me how things had been, how things were, and why I was in the situation I was in. From there I was able to work out changes that needed to be made. Thank you Kerri!" - Linda, Wiltshire

"The reading I had from Kerri was so accurate, it was amazing!!" - Kate, Wiltshire

"Kerri, thank you so much for the reading - I was amazed at what came through! It confirmed that things I'd been thinking about are a realistic dream - the reassurance you gave was very kind and sensitive. I will pass on the messages you received for my friend as well, I know she will take great comfort from your words." - Gaynor, Wiltshire

"I had never met Kerri prior to the day of the reading. I had had two previous readings by two other people some time before Kerri did her reading for me. Neither of the two previous readings had rung particularly true. Although I hoped, I wasn't expecting this reading to be any different. I was determined not to 'lead' Kerri. When she asked me questions I just answered simply. Kerri hardly looked at me and didn't seem to be trying to read my face. She was very absorbed and I found myself answering yes to more and more of her questions. It wasn't just that Kerri came up with names and events, personal and private family issues and humour also came through. I was very struck by her sincerity and professionalism. I had decided to have this reading because there was something that I was very worried about. Towards the end of the reading, I asked Kerri about what was worrying me. Kerri told me that there was no cause for concern, and now, months later, she has been proved right." - Iris, Somerset

"I attended a group reading with Kerri. Wow what an amazing experience!! The information received was incrediably accurate. The messages received gave me the comfort and reassurance I was looking for in certain areas of my life.Thank you." - Marie, Wiltshire

"My reading with Kerri was very insightful and helpful." - Joel, Somerset

"I have been meaning to tell you...don't know if you remember what you said to me the last time we met, but you told me to follow my heart and I said that I would love to have my own animal healing practice. Well, I searched for ages after that for a course to qualify as an animal healer and there wasn't anything within 100 miles..too far for me to contemplate. You also mentioned that the connection would be with 'Charles' and horses..... I had another look on the internet about two weeks ago and low and behold, there was a course in Foxham, near Chippenham. It begins next April....It's called Beacon Healing, and I train to be a healer with horses, farm animals, wild animals and domesticated animals. The founder of the course is a man called Charles Siddle!!! You are amazing Mrs! I've enroled and can't wait!" - Aileen, Wiltshire

ACUPUNCTURE

ACUPUNCTURE

The most important thing to remember with acupuncture is that it's spelt with ONE C!! Just had to change all the words on the website that I was spelling with 2!

I started getting acupuncture a couple of years ago and found it really helpful and interesting. The theory behind it all fascinated me. As explained to me, each person is predominantly one particular element (fire, water, earth, wood, metal). There are different characteristics of each element which will help an acupuncturist to determine which element their patient belongs to. I remember my therapist explaining to me that each element has a predominant emotion, tone of voice and so on, so that as a therapist, they will ask you questions to help them determine which group you belong to. That then helps them to treat you in the best way for you. Chinese medicine that works with these five elements, states that to bring the body into harmony, you must work on bringing these elements into harmony within the body. The life force (qui) can then flow freely, through your energy meridiens, creating a healthy body. So although acupuncture can be effective on a particular illness or pain, it also works in a balanced way, bringing your energy into correct alignment, releasing blockages in the flow, and therefore creating good health.

Generally when getting acupuncture, you will be laying down, relaxed, and the acupuncturist will stick HUGE needles into you....no just kidding. They are actually very fine needles, that are placed at different points on your body, to make contact with various meridien points under the skin, stimulating the body to heal. Your acupuncturist will determine what areas of your body require working on.

I can honestly say I always found my sessions very relaxing, the needles do not hurt when they go in - on some points I could feel an initial "uncomfortable" feeling as the needle went in, but never pain. And on other points I was not even aware I had needles in there. You will then keep these needles in there for as long as is deemed necessary. I used to lay for about 10 minutes. Then my acupuncturist would check my pulses (very different to taking a pulse normally), and make adjustments if necessary. He would do this a few times during my visit. The whole appointment time went for about 45 minutes.

You really do feel different at the end, sometimes a bit light headed, but I always also felt more relaxed.

If you are drawn to acupuncture I would recommend you give it a try, you can only benefit from it. Listen to your inner voice - your higher self always knows what will work best for you.

The table below will help you to work out which element you belong to. You will probably have characteristics from more than one, but there is one element that will predominantly stand out for you.

Element Season Colour Emotion Taste Voice
Fire Summer Red Joy Bitter Laughs
Water Winter Black Fear Salty Groans
Wood Spring Green Anger Sour Shouts
Earth Late Summer Yellow Sympathy Sweet Sings
Metal Autumn White Grief, sadness Pungent Weeps

ACUPUNCTURE COULD BENEFIT YOU:

If you have a sense of feeling generally unwell, or
If your body feels "out of balance" or "out of synch", or
If you are feeling low in energy, or
If you feel you are dominated by a particular emotion (eg anger), or
If you've noticed a lot of references to acupuncture lately (at least three), or
If your inner voice tells you its a therapy that would really help you.

PAST LIFE REGRESSION

PAST LIFE REGRESSION

Past Life regression has always been one of my favourite topics! Ever since I can remember, I have been aware that we all have past lives. As you can see from my book list - I've read a lot of books over the years on this subject as I find it so fascinating. I also regressed friends when I was about 19 (on one of our many weekends away.....beach...sun..alcohol....I wouldnt recommend it now!!) and was amazed at the similarities in the experience, as to that I had read in books.

Since then I have studied PLR a lot, and regressed friends with amazing results. Although I felt comfortable doing this, I still went ahead and did a course, just to get the piece of paper saying I was qualified to practice.

There are clues in your every day life, to your past lives. What countries are you drawn to? What type of clothing, food, buildings? These are signs pointing to past lives that you have experienced.

PLR helps in so many ways, as we tend to carry pain or "samskaras" from previous lives into our current incarnation. It's like energy from a particularly traumatic past life event gets trapped in our meridens, as a type of memory. Although in this life there is no memory of the event that caused the pain or weakness, we are still feeling it. This can be physical pain (such as a bad knee) or emotional pain (such as a fear of being abandoned). In a lot of cases, there is no reason in the person's current life as to why they should feel such a strong pain or emotion. When this happens, PLR can really help to understand why the pain is there, and release it for ever.

A typical session will consist of you either sitting or laying down (whichever is most comfortable for you). Your therapist will then go through a basic relaxation exercise, to help you feel calm, and switch to using your sub conscious rather than conscious mind. Each therapist is different, but generally you will be taken (in your imagination) to an area such as a garden, where your therapist will guide you through experiencing your different lives.

It's important to remember that everyone is different. Whilst some people really feel like they are in the life, they see it, they hear it, they experience it totally, to others it will feel like they are imagining what's there. EACH WAY IS PERFECT. Imagination is the voice of the sub conscious. Don't worry that you might feel you are making it up - you're not. It's really important to just accept the first thing you feel, whether it be a thought, pictures, feelings or any other way you are given past life information. You will still be aware that you are being regressed, so don't feel that you should be totally floating away to some mystical place. Regression does not work that way. It's simply a way of you relaxing, so that you can access memories that are buried in your sub conscious.

Typically after a regression you may feel emotional (depending on the lives you experienced). Go with this, feeling and allowing emotion is a great way to understanding the source of your pain and releasing it for ever.

It's important to have a good therapist who you feel comfortable with, as obviously this will help you to relax. Your therapist will also have the tools to help you through any particularly distressing past lives. If you've held onto the pain from a horrible past life event, the emotion attached to that can be very strong, and therefore the need to release that emotion is really important. This is where your therapist will really help you by keeping control of the situation, as well as getting you to go through the event and release the pent up energy.

Try not to have any expectations of your PLR - everyone is different, so your experience might be completely different to those that you have read about. A good therapist will be able to understand your particular way of communication with the sub conscious, and will know how to get you to the buried memories.

More than one session is usually recommended, as most people have more than a few lives that need to be explored. Listen to your inner voice and your feelings as they will guide you to know when you have explored your past lives sufficently and no longer need to be regressed. Generally your sense of well being will have increased so much that you will be in no doubt.

I also recommend that clients abstain from caffeine on the day of their regression - just so that they can become relaxed more easily.

Your first session will be the longest as your therapist explains how your regression will work - and takes notes on the ailments that you want to eradicate.

If you want to prepare for having PLR in the future, meditation is a great way to teach your body how to relax, like anything, the more you do it, the easier it becomes!

After your PLR pay attention to your dreams. You will more than likely find that when your buried memories are stirred, they can come out in your dreams, giving you even more insight into the pain you are experiencing in your current life.

Generally, after experiencing PLR, you will feel more at ease with yourself, your pain or trauma or fear will have gone, and you will feel a more positive, lighter person.

PAST LIFE REGRESSION COULD BENEFIT YOU:

If you have physical pain that the doctors can find no explanation for, or
If you have a emotional fear that has no basis in your current life (such as fear of rejection), or
If you have a physical fear that has no basis in your current life (such as fear or water), or
If you have a consistent negative behaviour or pattern that you want to change, or
If you've noticed a lot of references to past life regression lately (at least three), or
If your inner voice tells you its a therapy that would really help you.

Client's comments - Past Life Regression

"The session with Kerri helped me to see patterns of behaviour and understand the causes so clearly. I came away feeling recharged and positive about myself and the control I have over my life. I didn't realise how powerful it is to understand the past in helping to make sense of the future." - Gaynor, Wiltshire

"My sessions with Kerri, involving past life regression and healing sessions, exploring patterns in this life time, provided me with a wonderful tool for exploring and releasing emotional patterns which were proving detrimental to my well - being. I would thoroughly recommend Kerri's sessions as a very relaxing but powerful way to release negative emotions, replacing them with a positive sense of emotional well- being. They also provided me with a very useful and comprehensive set of self-healing techniques which can be used for healing of symptoms whether they manifest in the emotional or physical.
Kerri is extremely professional. Her wonderful ability to support and guide me during the sessions enabled me to explore deep-rooted patterns of behaviour and thought processes whilst always feeling safe, secure and relaxed. I emerged from the regression sessions with a strong sense of release and a much clearer perspective on my emotional, spiritual and physical being." - Rhoda, Somerset

" Kerri's past life regression sessions are absolutely amazing! She is so professional in the way she conducts them making you feel completely safe and supported throughout the experience. Every session I have been lucky enough to have has had a profound effect on me - helping me release old unwanted emotional patterns of behaviour and helping me make sense of issues, relationships and feelings about my present life. If you are in a place in your life where you feel stuck or confused I can not recommend past life regression with Kerri enough for helping you to release the old and move forward into the new" - Sue, Wiltshire

HOLISTIC MASSAGE

HOLISTIC MASSAGE

I know many of you may be thinking that having a massage is indulgent or a treat that you may get once in a while. I'm here to say massage is one of the best things you can do for yourself, it can be incredibly healing, calming and inspiring if you find the right therapist! Massage is something that we all could do for ourselves on a regular basis. Too often we find ourselves feeling that it is wrong to indulge or treat ourselves in some way. This could not be further from the truth! You are important - your body is important to you, and getting regular treatments in the form of massages is one way of loving and respecting yourself and your body.

I have been lucky enough to find the best massage therapist in the world (in my opinion!!), at Hazelwood Spa. My very first treatment with her a few years ago just amazed me! It was so different to other massages I had had in the past. It felt incredibly spiritual and I really felt (and said this to her after a few visits) that whether she knew it or not, what she was doing was spiritual massage - working with energy. She (as all good massage therapists do) knew all the areas on my body that needed working on - without me even telling her. She instinctively went to the sore spots on my back or neck and worked on them. I honestly feel that I am a more relaxed, calmer person from my regular massages with Sam. Spirtually, I have certainly progressed through my visits with her - I have opened up and released many negative energy patterns through regular treatments.

One of the best treatments that I could recommend is LaStone. This is something that Sam specialises in, and I have to say it's the most superb treatment I have ever had. It involves the use of hot and cold stones. The heated stones are Basalt, Jade and Petosky, the cold stones are Marble, Jade and Sardonyx. Through alternating use of these stones on your body, your therapist is bringing balance to the body, mind and soul. Apart from feeling absolutely divine when you are being massaged with the stones - they are also stimulating your body on so many levels, to heal. The story behind LaStone and the different ways that this massage therapy helps you is fascinating. Rather than list all the details here, I recommend you check out the LaStone link at the bottom, it's a website well worth looking at. I've also experienced LaStone facial which is superb, and my regular treatment which is Decleor facial. These facials always begin with a massage - so you're getting the best of both worlds! My advice to you is to find someone that you feel comfortable with, and then allow yourself to experience regular treatments, and know that you are most definitely worth it.

After a treatment with Sam, I am always feeling calmer, lighter, relaxed and much more aware of myself, I really recommend that you try and fit in regular massage sessions whenever you can - you will definitely feel and see the benefits in your day to day life.

HOLISTIC MASSAGE COULD BENEFIT YOU:

If you feel tense, stressed or overrought, or
If you want to experience a deeper connection with yourself, or
If you are ready to treat yourself and your body with love, or
If you have niggling aches and pains that need gentle release, or
If you feel you need balance between your mind, body and spirit, or
If you've noticed a lot of references to massage lately (at least 3), or
If your inner voice tells you it's a therapy that would benefit you.

POLARITY THERAPY

POLARITY THERAPY

Like me, you're probably thinking....polarity therapy?? What's that? I had no clue either until I found it. And in true Sagittarian style I thought, "I must find out what this involves!"

It turns out, it was really amazing. My therapist, Andrew Harry (Bioenergy Centres), actually used quite a bit of NLP on me too. (Neuro Linguistic Programming), which was interesting as I had studied this therapy a bit too. It really works, especially in my experience, on neutralising painful childhood memories. Polarity therapy is quite involved and works well with other practices (such as the NLP), and basically involves stimulating and changing the energy flow within you, to prompt your body to self heal.

The actual polarity therapy involves you laying fully clothed on a massage table, while your therapist, gently adjust different energy points on your body, through three different types of touch. First one is quite gentle, second one involves slight movement, and third type of touch is a bit stronger, with the therapist almost doing small massage movements on different points of your body.

Typically, then my therapist would look at different things like my posture, or when I was laying down, how balanced I looked (I had never noticed how my right ankle fell a long way out to the side, whereas my left ankle didn't - after a session on these points, it straightened up!) Observing a client's physical body, and talking to them to establish patterns etc is a big part of polarity therapy. My therapist also could see what areas I was blocked in - and related this to the elements. Your different Chakra's relate to different elements (earth, water, fire, air and ether) and this in turn relates to your emotions, etc. It is really amazing, interesting and for me, to see where I was blocked and what it meant made complete sense.

All I can say is that I felt incredibly relaxed during every session, and I had the most amazing experiences in the form of dreams and other events every time after a session.

I have released loads of childhood trauma through my sessions with Andrew (and it didn't even seem like hard work!) and have developed a much closer connection to my spiritual self (God, creator, universe or whatever you wish to call it!) I thoroughly enjoyed each session and can really see how far I have progressed, in such a short time.

I believe Polarity Therapy can be extremely effective for emotional trauma, but it can also have wonderful healing benefits on physical illness.

POLARITY THERAPY COULD BENEFIT YOU:

If you have childhood trauma you wish to release, or
If you want to experience a deeper connection with yourself, or
If you feel imbalance within your mind, body, spirit, or
If you feel "stuck" in a particular pattern of behaviour or situation, or
If you have a physical illness you wish to work on, or
If you've noticed a lot of references to polarity lately (at least 3), or
If your inner voice tells you it's a therapy that would benefit you.

SOUND THERAPY

SOUND THERAPY

Well where do I start! The voice work and healing therapy I have done with my teacher Hilary has been the hardest and most rewarding therapy of all those listed here. She has inspired me with her own life story, and pushed me where and when I needed it!! I can't begin to really describe how much my sessions with Hilary have helped, but I will try and give an outline of what the therapy involves. Basically, each session is so different that you never know quite what to expect. That's what I love about Hilary - she will tune in and listen to you to understand which way the session needs to go. She is never set in having a particular therapy happen on the day (she is also a Reiki Master), but is always open enough to allow whatever healing is meant to happen at any given time, to take place.

The voice work Hilary does involves getting you to chant, or sing different mantras, and sounds. I know this can sound scary (it certainly did to me, which is why I knew it was something that would help me), but if you push yourself to get out of your comfort zone, I believe that's when the real changes start in your life.

Voice and sound work is not new, music has inspired and healed people for thousands of years. Your voice is a powerful, expressive part of you. Focusing and directing your voice to come from a place deep within, is a profound and magical experience. And to overcome the fear of "oh God, what do I sound like!" is a huge part of the healing process. Through voice work you can begin to recapture the confidence and playful energy that you had when you were a child. You can begin to tap into your own true power and your own self confidence.

Hilary also teaches the art of ACTIVE LISTENING. So often, we may think we are listening to people, but if you pay attention and really watch yourself, you will begin to notice how often you put your own opinion and thoughts onto what someone else is saying - sometimes even interrupting them in the process. We usually don't mean to do this - it is just a habit that has been learned, and a lot of the time we are trying to be encouraging to the person we are listening to. But what we end up doing in effect is judging what they are saying, and then adding our little bit. True listening, is a good habit to get into. Wait and really hear what someone is saying to you, without thinking what you are going to say back. In fact, a lot of the time, if you are paying attention, there is no requirement to say anything in return. We have been taught to live in a world of bright lights, quick speech, loud noise and flashing colours! This takes us to the point that sometimes, silence unnerves us and we feel that we must fill the gap. I challenge you to try active listening when someone is speaking to you about a problem. Show them that you are really listening by making eye contact. But let them talk, even when they pause, don't fill the space with your words, you'll be amazed how often someone comes up with a solution for their problem, when they are not cut short and are allowed to talk for as long as they wish.

Hilary also teaches movement with sound, and there are some lovely exercises we do, chanting the sound for each of the seven main chakras, while we move our hand up and down our body.

Voice work can be very, very emotional - believe me I know!! Through my work with Hilary, I have gone from having an acute fear of talking about myself and my feelings, and crying in front of other people, to accepting myself more, and allowing myself to cry if I need to, without judgement. This kind of healing does not just happen - you must take yourself out of your comfort zone, face your demons, feel the fear, and be consistently honest with yourself about what you are feeling. Quite frankly, what I experienced over a weekend course with Hilary, was terrifying for me at times. But that was what I needed in order to face up to and start to heal some very painful issues in my life.

Through a gifted teacher, you can release so many fears, just by using your voice! It is amazing the release that you will feel. Through voice work, you can learn to love and heal yourself.

Hilary also works with your breath, and using your breathing to help with voice work. Most of us (as I discovered) breathe very shallowly and into our chest. I have been taught now to try and breath right into my stomach, as this is the seat of our power. This brings qui (chi) into the area and helps to get energy flowing properly throughout the body. This makes a huge difference in how you feel, emotionally and physically.

As explained above, each session is so different, depending on what your needs are, and that is the beauty of it. Hilary is able to really individualise the voice work, depending on your requirements. I would thoroughly recommend that you check out her website through the link below. And if, like me, you get scared at the thought of doing voice work, then I have to say, this is a therapy that will work wonders for you!

SOUND THERAPY COULD BENEFIT YOU:

If you feel nervous or scared about using your voice, or
If you want to gain more self confidence and self love, or
If you want to feel more energised and inspired, or
If you feel you have deep emotional pain that needs to be released , or
If you feel fear at speaking up or standing out in front of others, or
If you've noticed a lot of references to sound therapy or music lately (at least 3), or
If your inner voice tells you it's a therapy that would benefit you.

REIKI

REIKI

I must admit that when I first heard of Reiki, many years ago, it was not a therapy that particularly appealed to me. I had a session in Australia about 9 years ago, and although it was enjoyable and relaxing (I actually fell asleep for a bit which surprised me!), I didn't like the fact that it was a "hands off" therapy. The therapist held their hands over different points of my body. I could actually feel the warmth of the energy, which was interesting, and as mentioned earlier I fell asleep a couple of times which was rare for me, so something was obviously happening! But overall I like therapies that involve touch. My understanding is that Earth is the only plane where physical touch can be experienced, which is one reason why many souls incarnate here.

I also found that for some reason, people who I met who practiced reiki seemed to be....how should I put this?....... Up their own arse?! Whoops....very judgmental! Seriously though, I didn't like how some of them constantly wanted to shove the words "I am a Reiki MASTER" at me....(did you get that....a MASTER!!) And then they would proceed to tell me what I was doing wrong with this and that etc etc. So I started to form a bit of an opinion (judgement) about people who practiced Reiki! Actually, on some level I must have already formed that judgement as I attracted these types of people to me! Since redressing this within, I have been fortunate to meet the most amazing, powerful, humble people who practice reiki, and I am all set to do my Reiki one in a couple of months! Who would have thought it!

I have had incredible healing, powerful experiences receiving Reiki from my friend who is particularly talented in this area. She (as do the other Reiki therapists I have met) practices "hands on" Reiki, which as I explained, I much prefer.

There are different versions of how the Usui Reiki movement evolved. It was started by Dr. Mikao Asui, who, in the late 18th Century, reintroduced the ancient healing concept of Reiki in Japan. Reiki is part of an ancient Tibetan Buddhist practice that stresses empowerment.

Reiki works by channeling energy through the therapist and into the patient. During a Reiki session, you will be fully clothed, and generally lying down. Usually your therapist will use a combination of hands on and off, channelling healing energy into various points on your body. It is extremely relaxing, and you are not required to do anything, other than possibly turn over at some point. Sessions can last from between 30 - 60 minutes generally.

Your feelings afterwards will vary. Some people just feel relaxed and lighter while others can have "miraculous" healing experiences.

REIKI COULD BENEFIT YOU:

If you have a specific physical illness you want to relieve, or
If you feel lethargic or apathetic, or
If you want to achieve balance between your mind, body and spirit, or
If you want to work on releasing built up emotional pain , or
If you feel you need to be "re-energised", or
If you've noticed a lot of references to reiki lately (at least 3), or
If your inner voice tells you it's a therapy that would benefit you.

YOGA

YOGA

One of the best things that I have done in recent years, is to practice regular yoga. Not only do these sessions really help to increase your flexibility and tone your muscles, but the overall sense of wellbeing that you receive from doing a few simple moves is amazing.

At times when I have been feeling upset or annoyed about something, and I have managed to take myself off and practice a few yoga movements, my whole attitude and inner feeling has changed. I become more relaxed and calm and a lot more at peace.

I have been lucky enough to benefit from a wonderful Yoga teacher, Sue Parsons, who does group yoga, as well as one to one sessions. I have found the one on one sessions with Sue absolutely working wonders for me, on my mind, body and spirit. Sue intuitively knows what I need at each session and structures it accordingly.

Something that I feel is also very important with yoga is breath and sound work. Sue uses both of these in her sessions. It is wonderfully empowering to chant while doing yoga movements. I know some people may find that intimidating, but believe me, it's such a wonderful release and an amazing feeling.

If you would like to incorporate yoga into your life, it is important to find the right type of yoga that sits well with you. I do Hatha Yoga which I find works well for me, it works all of my muscles which I like doing, without being too strenuous. I find it incredibly relaxing. I have attended a few different Hatha Yoga classes and I feel it really depends on the teacher, as to how hard your body is worked. One Hatha yoga session I attended was so hard that I could barely move when I left the class (I didn't go back!)

It is really important that you feel comfortable with the moves you are doing and that you have complete trust in your teacher. I would recommend that you investigate the different types of yoga to find out which one would suit you. Then maybe try a few different classes, until you feel comfortable that you are working at the right level.

If you are able to, I would thoroughly recommend one to one yoga, where your program is specifically designed for you.

If you are wanting to start some sort of fitness routine, I urge you to start looking at yoga - if you practice it regularly, you really will notice a difference in your body. I can assure you that it does work you (you can really work up a sweat on some of the moves!), and at the same time you will start to become a lot more in tune with your body, how it feels and what works for it.

Yoga classes are so different, but generally you will start with a warm up, seated or standing, where your teacher will get you to slowly stretch different muscles through yoga moves. Then you will build up to stronger movements throughout the class. Again, it really depends on your teacher as to what type of moves you do. There are some really strong moves - such as The Warrior (you would never have thought that your legs would be shaking and you would be sweating and panting just from one movement but this will do it for you!), and then there are gentle twists. In your yoga class, the movements are designed to flow together, and get your body, mind and spirit into alignment. After the strenuous moves, your teacher will then relax you back into gentler stretches, before ususally ending with a short relaxation (sitting/laying down, lights out and soft music etc). It is important to practice Samtosha with your yoga! That is, being content with where you are at any time. It is not a competition to do better or stretch further than anyone else. Be happy, content and accept (Samtosha) where your level is at any time.

One of my favourite sequences is the Sun Salutation, which Sue always finishes her classes with. If you think that yoga doesn't burn up calories, try doing three rounds of this and you'll be panting and sweating at the end! This is a fantastic quick routine to do first thing in the morning, to get you up and going for the day.

If you would like to start feeling better about yourself, your body and to also find something to help you relax, then yoga could be just the thing for you.

YOGA COULD BENEFIT YOU:

If you want to start a fitness program and tone your body, or
If you feel you need some "me" time but want to be active with it, or
If you feel you would like to become more in tune with your body, mind and spirit, or
If you have muscle soreness, aches and pains that you feel would be helped by gentle movement, or
If you want to improve your flexibility and energy levels, or
If you've noticed a lot of references to yoga (at least three), or
If your inner voice tells you its a therapy that would really help you.

KINESIOLOGY

KINESIOLOGY

Kinesiology (pronounced kin-easy-ology ) is a way of identifying any imbalances a person has by monitoring their ability to hold their muscles against light pressure.

Each muscle is related to an organ, and also to an energy pathway called a meridian. Together the muscle, organ and meridian form a circuit. If there are chemical, emotional, structural or energetic stresses affecting the circuit, the muscle tested will feel 'spongy', indicating an imbalance.

Each time a relevant factor is introduced the muscle's response changes, a bit like a switch. So imagine a spongy muscle as being 'off'; if the person then thinks of an emotional stress and the muscle is suddenly able to hold against the pressure, i.e. it switches 'on', that indicates that that emotional stress is involved in that imbalance.

Similarly, if a particular nutrient, when placed within the electromagnetic field of the body, causes the muscle to switch 'on', we know it will be helpful. The same process can be used to find related structural problems and energetic factors.

Based on this feedback the Kinesiologist and client can discover exactly what is involved in the imbalance and devise a treatment plan. It may include nutritional supplements, various emotional stress release techniques, Bach Flower remedies, acupressure, gentle structural realignment, chakra balancing, light touch, firm reflex massage, suggested lifestyle changes and more. The exact treatment you receive depends on the feedback your body gives through the muscle test about what it needs to return to health.

It was approximately 5 years ago that I had my first Kinesiology session. It was one of the most interesting therapies I had ever experienced. I did not know a lot about it beforehand.

I had chosen to visit a Kinesiologist on the advise of a friend as I was feeling low in energy and was not really sure why. Doctors tests had come back normal in everything, so I went down the 'holistic' route.

I did not really know what to expect so was open to anything! My therapist got me to lie down, fully clothed. She then proceeded to place different vials on my stomach, and would douse with a crystal* to see whether there was any adverse reaction. Whilst I didn't see the vials, she would say things like. "You're okay with carbs like potatoes and bread. But your body is better with white bread than brown". She went on like this for a while (I found the whole thing fascinating as she was so spot on with which foods sat well with me, and which ones didn't), until she was able to narrow down the exact vitamin which I was lacking. It turned out to be a particular type of vitamin B which my body was not absorbing. She then gave me a script with information on where to get it filled and that was it!

She explained to me that she now doused for weaknesses, but in the past, she used muscle testing instead. This is where they put the vial onto you and then you hold up your arm. The practitioner pushes your arm down and you must resist as hard as you can. The vitamins and minerals that you are deficient in will show up in whether you are able to push against the pressure or not.

I recently had a remote kinesiology treatment which was interesting and quite different to my first experience. I had to lay down for a certain period of time and meditate on different things. At the end of the session, my therapist called me to explain all she had tuned into. There was many powerful insights that she came up with, some extremely accurate, especially to do with emotional trauma from childhood. She located points in my body where the energy was blocked or behaving strangely and cleared it out. This was a strange but interesting experience, as I was doing quite a few different therapies at the time, all of which had contributed to my inner healing, I am not sure how powerfully effective this kinesiology was, but I do know there was some very accurate insights gained from it.

*Dousing involves holding a crystal pendulum over the body and watching for which way it spins.

KINESIOLOGY COULD BENEFIT YOU:

If you are feeling low in energy, or
If you feel unwell or poorly but are not sure why, or
If you feel you may have an allergy or weakness to a type of food, or
If you feel your body, mind and spirit need to be attuned and balanced, or
If you feel you may be lacking in some vitamins or minerals, or
If you've noticed a lot of references to kinesiology (at least three), or
If your inner voice tells you its a therapy that would really help you

SHAMANIC HEALING

SHAMANIC HEALING

I underwent a Shamanic healing session in December of last year. I had been drawn to quite a few Shamanic books, and found the role of the Shaman in tribal medicine fascinating. After reading Sandra Ingerman's book about Soul Retrieval, I decided that this was something I really wanted to experience.

Soul retrieval is based on the concept of our soul being fractured through traumatic events, or any BIG events in our life where we found it difficult to cope, so that a part of ourselves basically split from our soul and left, as a way of protecting itself. If we have had a particularly disturbing childhood for instance, our soul may have fragmented several times over the years, leading to us feeling that something is missing in our life, or leaving us with a feeling of emptiness inside.

A Shaman's role in a soul retrieval, is to journey to the Underworld, meeting up with their guide or power animal, and searching for their patients fragmented pieces of soul. Upon finding them, a qualified Shaman knows the best way to convince that part of the soul, to return with them, and come back to the patient. The soul fragments will generally be the patient at a certain age when something traumatic happened to them.

A typical soul retrieval session is quite easy for the patient, in that all they need do is lay quietly (fully clothed, and comfortable- pillow, blankets etc) while the Shaman puts themselves into a meditive state, enabling them to pass into the Underworld. The Shamanic healer will usually use a drum beat to help them achieve this state. Depending on how many parts of the patient's soul there are to retrieve, the journey can take anywhere from about 30-60 minutes. When the Shaman returns, they will then move close to the patient, leaning right over their heart and/or crown area and literally blow the soul fragments back into the body.

It is then advisable that the patient, spends the next week or so nurturing those parts of the soul that have returned by being kind and gentle with themselves.

It's an interesting and I have to say, very relaxing procedure. The information that the Shaman will share with you at the end of the session can be extremely accurate.

This is a therapy that will generally be consolidated over weeks and months, with the patient gradually feeling more confident, happier and self assured.

SOUL RETRIEVAL COULD BENEFIT YOU:

If you feel like there is something missing within you, or
If you feel an emptiness inside you can't explain, or
If you had a particularly traumatic childhood or experience that you know has left scars, or
If you have had an intense relationship, past or present that needs healing, or
If you want to feel more empowered and balanced, or
If you've noticed a lot of references to shamanic healing (at least three), or
If your inner voice tells you its a therapy that would really help you.

REFLEXOLOGY

REFLEXOLOGY

I used to hate having my feet touched! I was so ticklish there I just couldn't stand anyone going near them! However, since meeting Sam (See Holistic Massage), I have had and enjoyed many Reflexology sessions!

I find reflexology not only fascinating, but it is so relaxing to experience it!

Reflexology is a form of massage which applies pressure to certain parts of the feet in order to promote relaxation and healing elsewhere in the body.

Reflexology is based on the belief that each part of the body is interconnected through the nervous system to the hands and feet. The Reflexologist stimulates specific reflex points in the feet to bring nutrients to poorly functioning areas of the body. This can help restore balance throughout the body and achieve homeostasis (the process that maintain balance or equilibrium of an organism's internal environment).

The origins of reflexology can be traced back to ancient Egypt. Wall paintings in a physician's tomb, at Saqqara, dating back to 2330 B.C. show patients receiving treatments on their hands and feet.

In Greece until AD200, in addition to being the home of the oracle, Delphi was an ancient health spa where massage, hydrotherapy and reflexology were used to induce well-being, relaxation and foresight . Practices akin to reflexology appear to have been used in early China, Japan, India and Russia also.

Modern day reflexology has its origins in Zone Therapy which was pioneered by Dr. William H. Fitzgerald. He divided the body into ten longitudinal zones; the theory being that reflexes operate along these zones and that pressure and stimulation of a reflex could relieve pain affecting organs, body parts and glands within a given zone.

Zone Therapy was adopted by Eunice Ingham, a physiotherapist in her treatment of patients in the 1930's. She developed it further, finding that some areas of the body were more effective and accessible than others she worked on the feet. Eventually she mapped the entire body onto the feet. She discovered that a therapeutic effect could be achived by using pressure from her thumbs and fingers on specific tender spots which related to problems elsewhere in the body.

I have amazing experiences everytime I receive reflexology. It is the most relaxed I think I have ever been when receiving any form of body treatment. When the body is relaxed, lots of healing happens automatically, as the resistance you may have been offering is taken away. So the abundance that is naturally ours to receive is free to flow and be accepted.

Generally, when receiving reflexology you will be laying on a massage table (either partially clothed or naked, depending on any other treatments you are receiving). And the reflexologist will work on your feet, one at a time, and then sometimes at the end, together. You should find it extremely relaxing and the therapist will give you feedback at the end, as to the areas where they picked up possible weaknesses. I would recommend reflexology to anyone, especially those who enjoy having their feet touched!

REFLEXOLOGY COULD BENEFIT YOU:

If you want to release tension or stress in areas of your body, or
If you enjoy having your feet touched, or
If you feel there are weaknesses or imbalances in your body, or
If you feel the need to be more grounded in your life, or
If you feel the need to release toxins or negative energy from your body, or
If you've noticed a lot of references to reflexology (at least three), or
If your inner voice tells you its a therapy that would really help you.

E.F.T. (Emotional Freedom Technique)

E.F.T. (Emotional Freedom Technique)

EFT is one of the fastest, easiest therapies you could ever use to get immediate relief from any emotional pain. I have tried it and I can assure you, it works! I don't quite know how but it does. It sounds (and looks) like quite a strange procedure to perform, but hey, who cares when it works so effectively! The great part is that you can actually do it yourself, as it's so simple.

EFT basically consists of a series of tapping movements that you make on certain points of your body, while repeating a particular phrase to yourself. There are a few other movements that you make also. When you have run through the sequence, you WILL notice that the hurt or emotional pain you felt toward a situation or experience, has diminished. You can then perform the sequence of movements and tapping over and over, checking each time to see if you still feel emotional pain. Some people only need to do the sequence once to feel completely free of emotional pain, others may wish to run through it a few times. It is completely individual and all you have to do is check in with yourself to decide how many times you need to do it.

EFT is also very effective on phobias and fears, as well as some physical illnesses. Similar to acupuncture or acupressure, EFT works on the underlying energy grid of our physical body. By tapping you are altering the energy points and releasing blockages and imbalances so that your energy can flow freely, hence releasing the emotional pain (which, after all, is just energy). If you do not wish to try EFT yourself, there are a number of qualified therapists who can help you, use the link below to find one in your area. Because I know first hand how helpful EFT can be, I have listed below the whole sequence and instructions of how to perform it on yourself. I hope you find it useful.

THE SET UP
Step 1: Identify the problem. Tune in to your thoughts and feelings of the situation that is disturbing you
Step 2: Formulate a statement. A statement in the present tense about how you feel about this situation, then place the words "Even though" in front of your statement, and the words "I deeply and completely accept myself" at the end of your statement. EG: Even though I feel angry that Fred lied to me, I deeply and completely accept myself.
Step 3: Score chart. Give yourself a score from one to ten, rating the intensity of your pain (ten being the highest intensity).
Step 4: Affirmation link-up. To give more energy to that affirmation, you need to locate your tender points or karate chop point. The tender points are found by placing both hands on your upper chest, just below your collarbone. Thinking about your problem, find a tender or sore spot in this location. Keep pressing, left and right along this line until you feel tender areas. This is lymphatic congestion. You need to rub these sore spots in a circular motion while repeating your above affirmation aloud three times. If you cannot find the sore spot areas, than use the karate chop area. These points are located on the side of each hand, roughly an inch below the little finger. Gently tap either point with the fingertips for as long as it takes you to repeat your affirmation aloud three times.

THIS CONCLUDES THE SET UP.

THE SEQUENCE
Step 5: Reminder phrase. A short reminder phrase to keep your attention on the problem, which is said every time you tap a meridien point. EG "This angry feeling".
Step 6: Tapping points. Using two fingers, gently tap each point in sequence approximately seven times, while repeating your reminder phrase. Each point is below the next:

* Eyebrow (EB)- the beginning of your eyebrow point at the top of your nose
* Side of eye (SE) - the corner of the eye socket bone
* Under the eye (UE) - the centre of the bone right under the eye, level with your pupil
* Under the nose (UN) - the middle line between nose and top lip
* Chin (CH) - the middle of your chin, level with your gum line
* Collarbone (CB) - where the collarbone meets in the centre, just below the neck, a point can be found by moving down about one inch, and then outward about one inch (on either side)
* Underarm (UA) - on the torso under the arm, level with the nipple in men and the seam of a bra in women
* Thumb (TH) - on the outside edge of the thumb, level with the base of your thumbnail
* Index finger (IF) - at the side (closest to thumb) edge of the index finger level with base of your fingernail
* Middle finger (MF) - at the side (closest to thumb) of your middle finger level with the base of your fingernail
* Little finger (LF) - at the side (closest to thumb) of the little finger level with the base of your fingernail
* Karate chop - on the side of the hand roughly an inch below the little finger.

THIS CONCLUDES THE SEQUENCE.
THE GAMUT
Step 7: The Gamut. This point can be found on the back of either hand, once centimetre below the knuckles, between the ring and little finger. You need to tap this point for as many times as it takes you to perform the next few steps:

* Close your eyes
* Open your eyes
* While holding your head still, look hard down right
* While holding your head still, look hard down left
* While holding your head still, look hard down right
* While holding your head still, look hard down left
* Keeping your head still, roll your eyes in an anti-clockwise direction
* Keeping your head still, roll your eyes in a clockwise direction
* Take a deep breath in and out. Allow a few moments for your energy to rebalance

THIS CONCLUDES THE GAMUT.

THE SECOND SEQUENCE
Step 8: Second sequence. Once you have complete the gamut, a second tapping procedure is repeated. Starting from the eyebrow point and finishing at the karate chop point as listed above.
Step 9: Reassessment. The first round of EFT is complete, so now you can check in with how you are feeling about your problem situation. Give a score from one to ten again to rate the intensity.
Step 10: Round Adjustments. Depending on the depth of problem, you may require another round of EFT. This time you can change your phrases slightly, so that the positive affirmation has the word "still" in it (Even though I STILL feel angry with Fred..), and your reminder phrase has the word REMAINING in it (This REMAINING anger).

THIS CONCLUDES THE SECOND SEQUENCE.

With practice, the whole sequence will only take you about 5 minutes.

EFT THERAPY COULD BENEFIT YOU:

If you have a situation in which you feel intense emotion, or
If you have a fear or phobia you wish to release, or
If you have old emotional trauma that still effects you, or
If you feel "stuck" in a particular event due to the emotion attached, or
If you have a physical illness you wish to work on and try to release, or
If you've noticed a lot of references to EFT lately (at least 3), or
If your inner voice tells you it's a therapy that would benefit you.
